Born: April 4, 1979
Died: January 22, 2008 (age 28)

Actor Heath Ledger, 28 years old, was found dead in his $24,000-a-month Manhattan apartment this afternoon. An initial police report cited by The New York Times states foul play is not suspected and that pills had been found near Ledger’s body. He was found unconscious and unresponsive in one of the apartment’s bedrooms around 3:30 p.m. when a masseuse arrived for a scheduled appointment and the residence’s housekeeper went to inform him of the masseuse’s arrival.

NYPD confirmed, then later retracted that the apartment belongs to Mary-Kate Olsen. Dummies.

Ledger is starring as the Joker in the upcoming Batman movie The Dark Knight, which is currently scheduled for release in the U.S. on July 18, 2008.

UPDATE: Heath Ledger died of an accidental overdose of painkillers, sleeping pills, anti-anxiety medication, and other prescription drugs, the New York City medical examiner said Wednesday, February 6, 2008.

  1. Also a curse for the Dark Night film? A stunt man was killed during a stunt crash, and I think one of the actors got a broken leg or arm or something?

  2. Apparently, it was an overdose of sleeping pills. Out of “young Hollywood”, Heath
was a pretty good actor, except for the horrendous Knight’s Tale. I wonder what
they are going to do for Batman 3, he was supposed to be in it

  3. I just realized he was paying $24 Thouasand Dollars a month for that flat! Wow. Loser award in all this goes to Mary-Kate Olsen, who probably provided Ledger with whatever drugs he took, went right back to partying this week, like nothing happened. And the US based website godhatesfags.com has said they will send people down to Australia to protest his funeral, because he played a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain. Morons, all morons.

  4. It’s weird that there’s so much reaction to and press coverage of Ledger’s death. It’s like when John Ritter died in 2003 and people in the media were going overboard saying he was a comedic genius. He was funny, but a genius? No.
