  1. Sorry to disappoint you kids, but Jack Tramiel is alive, very happy, and still very wealthy. I shook his hand last December. Your vilification of him is one-sided and ill-informed.

  2. Here’s the link for the Bush and Chimp pictures. The site actually dates back to the early 2000’s. http://www.bushorchimp.com/

As for Tramiel, we were goofing on whether he had died, and we said he didn’t. As for his terrible record at Atari, I’m sorry, but I don’t see how anyone could stand up for his stewardship of that company into the ground.

Rob, Jason Priestley is going to appear on My Name is Earl, as Earl’s cousin Brandon, but not on screen during the new 90210.

  3. Spaceballs the cartoon? Mel Brooks needs to stop piddling around with all of these side projects and give us another feature length comedy. I think I have an idea for a script that would be perfect for him. He can do a parody of the 1984 version of Dune…only it would be called Dunce (pronounced “doonce”), starring George W. Bush. The setting would be the desert planet “Iraqus”, the galaxy’s only known source of oil (rather than spice melange). I figure it should be a big hit since political films seem to be in style these days.

  4. Hey guys,

Regarding Indy, it should always be a well known artifact that people can relate to. No Greek or Roman mythology. Indiana Jones and the Golden Fleece sounds really lame. The Staff of Moses might be a possibility, although that might too similar to the first movie. Excalibur could also be a good choice. See swinging London of the 60s in the beginning of the film might be neat. If Lucas wanted to continue the sci fi route, which I do not approve, Atlantis would be the most logical choice since some “books” claimed that the civilization had advanced technology from the space and used it to help the Egyptians build the pyramids, Karnak, Luxor, etc. El Dorado, city of gold is another, but I think that was kind of used in the last movie. Fountain of youth would suck, exploring mythic Florida.

Any special election related show coming up. We don’t know how much longer McCain has, he is getting pretty old.

  5. Almost forgot, Jack Tramiel does suck. But it might be good that he sucked so much, By delaying the Atari 7800, Nintendo and Sega were able to compete much sooner than expected. At any game conference, he should be pelted with copies of E.T.

  6. Dennis, many Indy fans have clamored for the Staff of Moses, but not me. I find it’s powers to be too far in the ridiculous. Part of the reason Lucas chose the UFO was the period of the film, the late 50’s. Just as the Nazi’s quests for occult was part of the 1930’s. In terms of what Indy goes after, there need not be a payoff of great power, merely the intrigue and myth of it. The danger of course comes along with it. You would also have to assume that since Indy is almost completely a “believer” now, he would take on more of the role that Connery did, while Mutt (Shia) would become the skeptic.

As for Tramiel, he was not to blame for E.T., that was Warner Brothers. However, Steven Spielberg flipped his lid and nearly sued Atari and Tramiel out of existence when Tramiel refused to release Gremlins for the 2600 or 5200.

  7. ‘macgyver’ was probably the last stupid-yet-watchable saturday night action show before the advent of the talent show. i’m glad somebody else has noticed mick mccarthy’s likeness to sam eagle.
