  1. I understand why the local commercials preempt the national ones, what I don’t understand is why the editing is done so badly. I would think that in this age of HDTV signals and digital video editing that it wouldn’t be so hard to make commercials seamlessly transition from one to another. But instead with these sloppy hacks it’s like watching old VHS tapes I used to record when I was a kid where one program would start playing right in the middle of another. It’s 2012 and still nobody working at the television stations knows when to press play at the right time.

I think the word Rob was looking for in regards to Mr. Rogers’ video was ‘surreal’.

  2. Esteban, you’re right, the Mr. Rogers video was surreal. I really like the song though, especially the video. I love seeing his facial expressions and demeanor, and the fact that he’s so encouraging. Old people are stereotypically more conservative and straight-laced…not encouraging children to imagine things and grow their ideas. Maybe that stereotype is wrong though.

And I agree about the sloppy TV commercial hacks. 25 years later and they still can’t do it cleanly?

And with all the technology we have today in 2012, why do local car commercials still look so low budget, like they’re recorded on VHS camcorders??

  3. Great job on the feud, loved listening to it. Very fun stuff.

On the commercials, there used to be an tone, inaudible to us, that would tell the locals that they could do an insert ad. They used to be on cassette but have been hard drive based for a while now in most places. Anyhow the timing is off for the trigger on those ads.

Love the show, keep up the good work.

  4. i’d like ‘24’ to come back – i’d definitely care! my girlfriend and myself are currently working our way through the complete series – she’s never seen it and is loving it; i’m still enjoying it even on repeated viewing, but it’s so tempting to shout out the twists! wow – vin diesel and shia lebouf are already in your halls of ‘whatever happened to?’ you guys are ruthless! and thanks for educating me yet again – phil collins’ civil war fixation… who knew? and can i join the pramp-pramp posse?

  5. David, unfortunately the P.P.P. was disbanded in 1992. But on it’s revival, you can head up the English chapter.
