  1. Sad that Griffith passed. On side note, saw tabloid at grocery checkout, headline mysterious death of Andy Griffith to be investigated. He was 84! Mystery solved.
Get A Life…greatest show ever. I have also been waiting for its reappearance. Chris Elliott’s dad, famous from the old Bob and Ray radio show plays his dad and is possibly the funniest character, along with the mom. I think you may have missed mentioning the father/son real life connection. (could be wrong about you missing it, but I don’t remember you mentioning it). And guess what? I did some homework on Stan Lee and I finally get the paunch meme

  2. I still have the old VHS tape that I recorded “The Trial of the Incredible Hulk” on when it first came out. But ever since my desktop died I’ve had no way to transfer VHS to a digital format.

I was just watching that tape the other day when I pulled it out looking to find another show that I knew was on it. I looked at the wikipedia entry about this Hulk movie and was surprised that it’s Stan’s first cameo. I wouldn’t say he’s the foreman, it’s more like he’s just a juror and the foreman is some other lady. But he does get some decent screen time when the Hulk attacks the jury box.

  3. Esteban found a click of a Ferrigno Hulk out with Stan Lee sitting in the jury box, and taking off at the first sign of trouble!

  4. Steve, I can’t wait for the Get a Life DVD boxed set. I can’t remember if I ever mentioned it on the show, but I knew that Bob was Chris Elliott’s real father. The parents’ reactions to Chris’s antics were part of what made the series so funny. They knew he was an idiot and couldn’t wait for him to grow up and move out of the house.

Esteban, the premise of the Hulk being put on trial is hilarious. I imagine the wild, insane Hulk sitting on the witness stand, describing “in his own words” what happened. Who comes up with this stuff, and why does it get approved??

  5. the ‘macca’ nickname is quite common in the north west of england due to the massive irish communities in liverpool and manchester – i live inbetween these two cities and the letters ‘mc’ are at the beginning of at least half my friend’s names. abbreviating people’s names is the practice among my liverpudlian friends – for example, i’ve been called ‘day’ – down to first syllable; and even ‘d’ – down to the first letter! i think it’s just part of northern culture and is informed by local wit and continued through football and pop culture – madonna was labelled ‘madge’ when she lived in england. and falkor from ‘the neverending story’ looks like victoria ‘posh spice’ beckham – go on, have a look if you don‘t believe me.
