Again, read this blog Michael Bay did, where he basically admitted to refusing to listen to any of the Transformers experts or fans, and did it his way, and ruined the film and the concept.
I read that last night. What is wrong with Michael Bay? If he had listened to the movie’s producer, it could have been good. Of course, because it has grossed $180 million in its first week, Bay will say he made the right choices.
I think a movie studio should rerelease the original The Transformers: The Movie in theaters right now. I guarantee it’d gross at least $50 million, if not $100. It’d be amazing to watch that on a big movie screen again!
By the way, we forgot to mention that Keith David (from They Live) wasn’t in the movie. Why was he listed as a cast member on IMDb.com in April?
I don’t know. I don’t think the original The Transformers: The Movie would make five million in theaters nowadays. I’d say it’d only be as popular as The Rocky Horror Picture show. In fact, before all this new movie hype, the original movie was often being shown in independent theaters in different locations all across the states, just like Rocky Horror. With its multiple DVD releases over the years, it’s geeky cult status and the overall lack of characters familiar to Joe Blow movie fan nowadays, I think a 1986 TF:TM rerelease would be as big a disaster as it was the first time around.
